J. Cole Performs With Injured Leg at Texas Shows, While Fans React to Album Release
Just days after the web informed the world of a leg injury, J. Cole hit the stage on his Texas Tour presented by ScoreMore Shows.
Performing in a walking-cast boot on his left foot and an Air Jordan Retro 11 on his right (the retro black and varsity red ones for those that are wondering), Jermaine Cole didn't let his sprained ankle stop the show.
After the endless line died outside and the venue filled up inside, Texas had their very own DJ Mr. Rogers rock the crowd. He jammed S.U.C. favorites and top 40 hits before DJ Dummy, who proclaimed "I am J. Cole's official DJ," was ready to take over. As a Brooklyn native spinning for a Roc Nation artist, Jay-Z's presence filed the venue— dynasty signs were thrown up to classic and current hits ("Watch the Throne" included).
Once the lights dimmed, the crowd's anticipation manifested as they chanted "J.Cole." It was showtime. Opening up his Cole World World Tour with "Looking For Trouble," the fans went crazy once he came out. It was hard to even believe what had happen a couple days ago. He went H.A.M. on stage despite the hurt ankle.
Singles from his previous mixtapes, EP's, and upcoming debut album, "Cole World: The Sideline Story" which drops September 27th, were performed without a hitch. Let's not forget his collaborated singles with Drake ("In The Morning"), Miguel ("All I Want Is You"), Trey Songz (the "Can't get Enough" single whose video dropped the same night as his Warehouse Live show), and the "A Star is Born" rapper.
Towards the final moments, two of Houston's favorites graced the stage: Bun B and Trae the Truth. Nonetheless, Pimp C's spirit was close by with Bun B's performance of "Get Throwed." Before the mic was handed back, Trill OG let this be know: "It may be hot in here, but it's a Cole World Baby!"
After hours of showing us his dream come true (the 26 year old rapper has been hungry for this since he was 12), giving Houston love a second time around, and repping his beloved North Carolina, the show was over.
Afterwards, J. Cole had this to say on Twitter: "A dream is a powerful thing."
